How to position your baby correctly?

Recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), the best sleeping position for children under one year is on their back. This position has led to a dramatic drop in sudden infant death (SIDS) (-76% since the early 1990s). Lying on their back, your baby’s face stays clear and they are not at risk of suffocation.

Preventing plagiocephaly

This recommendation, which should be followed, does however lead to some negative effects that you can reduce by being well equipped: plagiocephaly. Until about one year, a baby’s head is very soft and malleable. Spending many hours sleeping on the back can flatten part of the skull: this is called flat head syndrome.
