Baby breathing monitor Nanny 0m+. The Nanny monitor detects and monitors your baby’s breathing and movements and alerts you in case of a problem via a sound box. It allows immediate action in the event of respiratory arrest or if your baby has apnoeas. The Nanny is a CE-certified medical device, class IIB; this allows use at home as well as in daycare, with a childminder, in maternity wards, and it is recognised by professionals as a reliable tool to support your baby in their first months. The Nanny continuously monitors the regularity of your baby’s breathing. It can be used for children from 2 to 15 kg. If the Nanny does not detect breathing for 20 seconds (sudden infant death, ...) or if there is a drop in breathing rate to fewer than 8 breaths per minute (infant apnoea), it will trigger an alarm so parents (or responsible persons) can take the necessary measures immediately. How does the Nanny monitor work? The green LED flashes with your baby’s breathing rhythm at each detection of movement or micro-movement. If the Nanny no longer detects your baby’s breathing for 20 seconds or if it detects fewer than 8 breaths per minute, it will trigger a pre-alarm and then very quickly a powerful alarm (70 dB) so you can intervene as fast as possible. The sound of the alarm or the pre-alarm sometimes causes a baby in a breathing pause to react and resume a normal breathing rhythm. The detector mattress is placed under the baby’s mattress and thus continuously monitors the baby’s breathing during sleep thanks to a very sensitive sensor that detects movements of the baby’s rib cage. Beyond sudden infant death, the Nanny breathing monitor is also effective in cases of sleep apnoea, illnesses related to respiratory problems or symptoms of undetected allergies (risk of angioedema). The Nanny monitor can be used for a baby from 2 to 15 kg. How to install the Nanny monitor? The Nanny mattress is placed under the baby’s crib or crib mattress, level with the baby’s chest. There is no contact between the Nanny and the baby. It is the baby’s mattress that transmits the baby’s movements and breathing movements to the Nanny detection mattress. The Nanny mattress cable is connected to the alarm unit which analyses the baby’s breathing; the green LED lights at each detection and the unit goes into alarm if a problem is detected. The unit performs a self-check at each switch-on. In case of low batteries, the battery indicator lights up to warn you. The alarm unit is placed at the foot of the baby’s bed (at least 50 cm from the baby’s head) or can be moved up to 5 m away using the extension lead (provided). The Nanny detector mattress must lie flat and be in direct contact with the baby’s mattress; if you have a slatted bed base, you must place a small plywood board between the bed base and the Nanny mattress, with the board extending 3 cm beyond each side of the Nanny. So that the baby’s movements are transmitted well to the Nanny detector mattress, the baby’s mattress must be a maximum of 12 cm thick (maximum thickness between the baby’s chest and the Nanny). The Nanny works with 2 alkaline AA batteries placed in the monitor (the unit); the batteries are supplied with the Nanny and last about 6 months; they must be replaced with the same type: alkaline AA (do not use rechargeable batteries as the monitor may no longer warn when those batteries are low). Attention! For use of the Nanny with twins, each child must have their own bed in which an individual monitor is installed for each baby. The beds must be sufficiently apart (they must not touch). For use in a co-sleeping crib or during breastfeeding, the crib must be offset from the parents’ bed and must not touch it when the baby is under Nanny surveillance (otherwise the Nanny may detect the parents’ breathing or movements...). The Nanny is not suitable for hollow-structured mattresses (such as tensioned fabric or sprung mattresses with an empty inner structure), memory foam or very high-density mattresses. The Nanny can be used with the Little Chick baby bed reducer; simply place the detection mattress directly under the bed reducer.
